Halfmoon Betta (Long-Tail) is a beautiful fancy betta that is relatively easy to care for. However, it’s important to understand its natural behavior: bettas prefer to live alone, in a calm and peaceful environment, and thrive best in natural water that contains tannins from Indian almond leaves.
They may be kept near another betta—such as a male and female, or even male to male—with a divider, allowing them to see each other occasionally. This visual contact encourages natural flaring, which helps exercise the fins and tail.
Always remember: bettas are fighters by nature. If housed together in the same tank without separation, they will fight aggressively, often resulting in severe fin and tail damage, and in many cases, death.
Wild bettas are not “plug and play.” If this is your first time, please read the care guide first.
